Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Saez (ranked 3400 p4p, 3705 weight class) and Mr Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simon Saez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mr Penn's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Saez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mr Penn!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

so Penn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Saez is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Penn gets his way!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

and Saez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Penn moves into the clinch successfully.
A frustrated look appears on Saez's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Penn tries to throw a body punch but Saez avoids it by throwing Penn back against the cage.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Penn in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Simon Saez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Penn keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Saez's efforts to push away.
Saez is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Saez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Saez wants to get back to striking at distance but Penn won't allow it.

I would just about give that final round to Mr Penn.
I think Penn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
