And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duncan Vazquez!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vazquez shoots in for a takedown but Rodgers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rodgers is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Vazquez.
Vazquez takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Vazquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
It looked like Rodgers was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Vazquez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rodgers.
Rodgers dives in for a single leg takedown but Vazquez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Vazquez counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rodgers!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
