Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Vargas!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vargas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Vargas.
Scott throws the left hand but Vargas avoids the punch easily.
Brian Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott avoids a punch combination nicely.
Vargas misses with a takedown attempt - Scott sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Vargas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Scott as he jumps to the side.
No joy there for Scott, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Vargas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott throws a hook but Vargas avoids it easily.

Scott fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vargas sprawls well initially but Scott persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Scott takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Vargas is looking for a sweep. Scott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Scott is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Vargas looks gassed!

Scott is trying to control the action in half guard but Vargas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott moves nicely into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vargas can do anything to dispel that myth.
Scott happy to just control the position for now.

Scott lands a big shot there that rocks Vargas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hector Vargas's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hector Vargas's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
