Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Tufts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Lisboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tufts's entrance music is Kill the King. A fine choice. Lisboa has chosen Ratamahatta as his entrance music. Pedro Lisboa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick Tufts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Lisboa!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tufts is looking to clinch.

Lisboa instigates a clinch.
Lisboa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tufts walks away with a smile on his face. Lisboa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lisboa tries to clinch but Tufts moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Lisboa. No joy for Tufts on that attempt.

Lisboa closes the distance and pushes Tufts back into the cage.
Lisboa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tufts is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Tufts is pressed up against the cage. Lisboa has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tufts down to the mat. Tufts avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nick Tufts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Lisboa.
Lisboa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Horrible takedown by Lisboa or perhaps it was just good defense by Tufts which made him look bad.

Lisboa is looking to stand up but Tufts won't let him.

Tufts is working an open guard so Lisboa takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Lisboa looks to land a combination but Tufts avoids it well.

and Lisboa counters by moving into the clinch.
Tufts gets underhooks to prevent Lisboa's takedown attempt.

Tufts jumps into guard, dragging Lisboa to the mat.
Lisboa is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lisboa wants to get up but he can't break Tufts's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Tufts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lisboa is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tufts is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lisboa wants to stand and escape but instead Tufts has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Lisboa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tufts kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Tufts decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lisboa, up you get!

Lisboa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tufts does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Tufts has Lisboa pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tufts pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lisboa tumbling to the mat - Tufts dives into Lisboa's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Lisboa feints and as Tufts raises his hands in defense, Lisboa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tufts had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lisboa is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tufts Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lisboa's back instead.

Lisboa looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Tufts is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Lisboa up.

Lisboa's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lisboa is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lisboa wants to control but Tufts is having none of it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Tufts sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lisboa's guard.

Well Lisboa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
