Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hulkki pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Rios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rios is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Way I Am. Diego Rios told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hulkki pete!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
pete tries to bum rush Rios with a series of wild strikes but Rios uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
pete closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
pete throwing shots but Rios is blocking nicely.
pete seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rios tries to roll over but pete keeps him under control.
pete is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

pete cracks Rios with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
pete feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

pete postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rios looks a forlorn figure.

Rios is bucking up trying to escape but pete cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
pete is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rios can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
pete knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rios on the ground.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rios has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from pete finds it's way round the side to connect with Rios's head.

and pete counters with a nice leg kick.
Rios closes the distance and clinches up with pete, looking for a takedown. Rios pushes pete against the cage but pete circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rios takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hulkki pete seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
pete fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rios sprawls well initially but pete persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rios tries to kick pete off but pete keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Rios is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of pete's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take pete's back!

pete goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts pete, as that shot connected.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
pete throws a series of punches but Rios avoids them all with ease.
Horrible takedown by pete or perhaps it was just good defense by Rios which made him look bad.

Rios fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
pete closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
pete decides to stand back up. pete steps back and let's Rios get back to his feet.

pete cracks Rios with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

pete is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rios can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

pete is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rios has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rios!
Rios wants to pass the guard but pete is keeping the position.
Rios stands and throws pete's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Diego Rios has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hulkki pete is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
pete kicks Rios off and gets back to his feet.

Well pete has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
