Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Dan Sanchez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dan Sanchez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Mir! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir throws a right and a left that Sanchez avoids nicely. Mir fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Mir rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sanchez keeps the fight on the outside. Sanchez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sanchez seems to be working for a kimura but Mir defends the submission attempt. Mir is looking to improve his position.
Sanchez content to control rather than advance. Mir wants to get back to his feet.

Mir has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanchez is working away from the top position though. Mir moves into full guard.
Sanchez won't allow Mir to get back to his feet. Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanchez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanchez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mir is trying to keep Sanchez in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sanchez avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Mir counters with a shoot takedown. Sanchez fights it but they end up in guard. Mir wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving. Mir looks gassed! Sanchez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Sanchez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mir's guard. Sanchez postures up and lands a big shot to Mir's brow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mir trying to keep a closed guard but Sanchez is proving a slippery customer.

Sanchez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sanchez gets to his feet. Mir looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mir lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sanchez backs up against the cage.

Sanchez stands up from Mir's guard - Sanchez perhaps looking for a knockout. Mir keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sanchez blocks a head kick by Mir.

Dan Sanchez dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A low kick from Mir is predictable there so Sanchez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez trying to control but Mir is working from the bottom. Mir looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mir avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Sanchez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mir controls Sanchez momentarily but Sanchez frees himself. Mir can't keep his opponent in guard - Sanchez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mir looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sanchez in particular looking to stall. Sanchez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mir actively working from the bottom here. Mir tries to get to full guard but Sanchez has control of the leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sanchez is working for a kimura but Mir is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mir throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Sanchez has his takedown stuffed and Mir counters with a shoot takedown. Sanchez fights it but they end up in guard. Mir drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mir jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dan Sanchez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mir drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sanchez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mir has Sanchez in his guard. Mir being controlled here, momentarily. Mir wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sanchez passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Sanchez tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Sanchez passes to full mount! Sanchez working away from the top, dropping strikes. Sanchez controlling the position easily from mount. Dan Sanchez dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Mir lands a glancing blow to the side of Sanchez's head. Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but Mir pushes him off. Sanchez tries for a takedown but Mir sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sanchez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mir tries to clinch up and Sanchez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mir's guard. Mir keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Mir has his foot on Sanchez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sanchez works his way back into a safe position though. Sanchez wants to pass the guard but Mir is keeping the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mir pulls Sanchez in close to prevent any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Mir manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sanchez manages to get himself to full guard.
Sanchez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sanchez keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully. Mir might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sanchez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Sanchez pushes Mir off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Sanchez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sanchez. Sanchez working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Mir is trying to control the position but Sanchez postures up. Mir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sanchez postures up in Mir's guard and throws a big left but Mir blocks it. Sanchez wants to stand but Mir is controlling his posture from full guard. Sanchez won't allow Mir to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sanchez drives through and clinches with Mir against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sanchez is trying to drag Mir to the mat but Mir just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Mark Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mir is working for takedown but Sanchez is calmly controlling the position for now. Dan Sanchez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mir gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sanchez.

And that's the end of the fight! Dan Sanchez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanchez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
