Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thiago Oliveira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kent Ortega! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortega fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Oliveira, pushing him back against the cage. Ortega slows down the pace here.
Oliveira tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ortega escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oliveira will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Oliveira swats away the attempt to clinch by Ortega. Oliveira tries for a takedown but Ortega sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Oliveira. That's going to take a lot out of him. Oliveira tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ortega was well out of range. Poor timing from Oliveira. Nice takedown defense from Ortega. No joy for Oliveira on that attempt. Ortega is looking to clinch but Oliveira is avoiding it.
Oliveira lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Kent Ortega has been cut. Oliveira shoots for a double leg takedown but Ortega sprawls well. He's pushed Oliveira's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ortega closes the distance and pushes Oliveira back into the cage. Ortega connects with a knee to the head.
Oliveira is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Ortega's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Oliveira has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ortega avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Oliveira is breathing heavily. Ortega effectively controlling the action here. Ortega breaks from the clinch.
Ortega closes the distance and clinches.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Kent Ortega. Ortega closes the distance and clinches. Ortega just leaning against Oliveira, taking a breather. Ortega breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Ortega! This one is all over!
