The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skank shoots in looking for a takedown. Nazario tries to sprawl out of it but Skank keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nazario manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nazario tries to clinch but Skank moves out of range.
Nazario stuffs the takedown attempt from Skank. Skank gets slowly back to his feet.
Skank shoots in but Nazario avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Skank. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nazario tries a head kick but it misses.
Skank throws a sloppy head kick and Nazario moves out of range easily.

Skank gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Skank has Nazario pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Skank pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nazario tumbling to the mat - Skank dives into Nazario's guard.
Skank would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
