Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryo Sakazaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Katsunori Kikuno! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kikuno throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kikuno throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sakazaki. Sakazaki fails with a takedown attempt. Kikuno throws a hook but Sakazaki blocks it. Kikuno closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sakazaki to the mat! Sakazaki manages to get full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kikuno chips away with some ground and pound. Kikuno drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kikuno jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kikuno drops back for a leg! Sakazaki throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Sakazaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kikuno's guard. Sakazaki preventing the sweep. Sakazaki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kikuno's guard. Kikuno looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kikuno looks gassed! Sakazaki moves into full mount! Kikuno won't be happy about that!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kikuno swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Kikuno is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sakazaki is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kikuno can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kikuno has given up his back here. Will Sakazaki look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Kikuno is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
I really don't envy Kikuno right now.
Sakazaki has his arm under Kikuno's chin here. Game over son! Sakazaki squeezes tightly and Kikuno is forced to tap out!
