Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yuu Atarashii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinya Aoki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuu Atarashii !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinya Aoki!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atarashii wants to clinch up but Aoki keeps it at a distance.
A big left from Aoki misses.
Aoki dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Atarashii . That did some damage!
Atarashii tries to close the distance and clinch but Aoki swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Atarashii throws a head kick but Aoki moves out of range.
Aoki circles away from the clinch attempt.
Atarashii tries to clinch but Aoki is having none of it.
Yuu Atarashii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Atarashii shoots in and bounces Aoki off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Atarashii is pushing down on Aoki's leg trying to pass to half guard. Aoki is fighting to maintain full guard but Atarashii has managed to sneak the leg through.
Atarashii wants to stand up but Aoki has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Aoki is trying to maintain the position but Atarashii is very close to passing his half guard.
Aoki misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Aoki avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Atarashii .
Atarashii wants to take a breather but Aoki is having none of it.
Aoki regains full guard. Nicely done.
Aoki had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Atarashii is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Aoki Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Atarashii 's back instead.
Aoki throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Atarashii !

Aoki lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Atarashii has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
I really don't envy Atarashii right now.
Aoki throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Aoki looking for the choke but no joy.
Atarashii is trying to get back to his feet but Aoki has full control of the position and if anything, Atarashii has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Aoki misses with punches from the back.
Aoki thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Atarashii is trying to stand back up.
Aoki has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Atarashii has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Atarashii is breathing heavily.
Atarashii is trying to break free.

Aoki sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Atarashii taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Shinya Aoki!
