The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves shoots in looking for a takedown. Nazario tries to sprawl out of it but Alves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nazario manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alves fails with the takedown.
Nazario keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ronaldo Nazario has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royler Alves.
Alves thumps Nazario with a low kick.
A head kick misses from Alves.
Alves fails in his attempt to clinch.

Nazario closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nazario. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nazario seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Alves wants to get back to full guard.

Alves is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Nazario pulls his head out easily.

Nazario throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Alves has his hands clasped together but Nazario breaks the hold and Alves is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Nazario!
