Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roman Pavel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mac Gyver!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gyver throws a sloppy head kick and Pavel moves out of range easily.
Pavel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gyver throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pavel avoids the head kick by Gyver.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Gyver, right into the meat.
Pavel lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pavel.
It looks like Mac Gyver has been cut.
Pavel blocks a head kick by Gyver.
Gyver on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Mac Gyver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gyver tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pavel scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gyver tries to control but Pavel manages to take his back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pavel is hanging on to Gyver's back as he tries to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pavel is persistently looking for the submission but Gyver is defending it well.
Pavel working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Gyver is doing well to defend. Pavel seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Gyver is forced to tap and this one is over!
