Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and zejk machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). zejk machida has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Sousa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, zejk machida! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sousa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has machida pinned against the cage. machida gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign! Sousa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says machida as he avoids it easily. machida fails to land the takedown. machida shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sousa as he jumps to the side. Nice sprawl there from Sousa as machida shoots in. Rafael Sousa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of zejk machida. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sousa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sousa lands in his opponent's guard. machida is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sousa wants to control from the top but machida keeps moving. Sousa stopping the sweep attempt from machida. machida wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. machida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. machida controlling Sousa's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. machida looking for a guillotine here but Sousa defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. machida pulls Sousa in close to prevent any damage. Sousa wants to control from the top but machida keeps moving. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sousa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. machida is keeping the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rafael Sousa will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Sousa tries for a takedown but machida circles away easily and machida counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sousa's guard now. machida stops Sousa from standing up. machida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sousa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sousa being controlled here, momentarily. machida stands and steps away. Sousa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sousa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. A lull in the action here as Sousa stalls from top position. machida struggling a bit here. Sousa stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. machida misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sousa looks to clinch so machida counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. machida trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. machida looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Sousa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. machida advances position into side control! machida thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Sousa is trying to control machida's posture but machida avoids it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
zejk machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
machida gets a takedown into half guard. machida scores with a couple of good hammerfists. machida is figuring out what he wants to do next. Sousa slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. machida pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sousa is keeping the position for now. Sousa is trying to keep machida in close.
Sousa lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for machida! Sousa avoids the attempt from machida to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sousa wants to control the pace but machida is squirming around nicely. machida is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sousa tries to control but machida wriggling away. Sousa misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
That's three minutes gone in the round. machida holds on, trying desperately to control. machida is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. machida sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. zejk machida has got the better of the ground game so far. Sousa not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sousa looks to score some points with some ground and pound. machida is trying to get back to full guard. machida gets back to full guard.
Sousa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. machida pushes Sousa off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nice takedown defense from Sousa. No joy for machida on that attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! zejk machida comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think machida has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
