Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Armando Bronca! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Austin! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Austin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Bronca shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Austin sprawls well. Austin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bronca gets slowly back to his feet. Austin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bronca looks for a takedown but Austin sprawls well. Austin stuffs the takedown attempt from Bronca. Bronca gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Armando Bronca. That's going to take a lot out of him. Austin tries a head kick but it misses.
Austin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bronca. Austin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Well, if Austin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Bronca gets full guard. Austin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bronca's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Austin trying to control the action but Bronca is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Austin moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Bronca.
Bronca might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Austin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bronca to his feet. Bronca tries to close the distance and clinch but Austin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Austin throws a head kick that misses. Bronca with a poor takedown and Austin counters with a series of strikes. Bronca will be more careful next time no doubt. Austin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bronca with a poor takedown letting Austin counter with a right hand. Bronca darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Bronca is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Austin is just riding it out for now. Bronca eventually gives up the hold.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bronca wants to pass to mount but Austin is defending the position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bronca lands a nice short elbow. Bronca is trying to work for a kimura but Austin is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Austin tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Austin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bronca scores with a couple of nice shots. Austin is trying is best to control the position here. Bronca throwing shots but Austin is blocking nicely. Austin trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Bronca has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bronca looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. A nice elbow there by Bronca. Austin prevents any damage by holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronca avoids the attempt from Austin to control. Austin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bronca swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Austin is now in Bronca's guard. A big mistake from Bronca there, giving up the dominant position! Austin looking to sit in guard and control but Bronca gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bronca throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Austin dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Bronca doesn't succeed with the takedown and Austin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bronca with a lazy takedown attempt and Austin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bronca won't be happy with that. Bronca manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Austin wants to get back to full guard. Bronca looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Austin controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Austin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bronca. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Austin is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Austin is in trouble now - Bronca has advanced to mount! Bronca working the ground and pound effectively.
Armando Bronca overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Bronca moves to the back. Bronca tightening his grip on Austin, looking for the choke. Bronca tightening his grip on Austin, looking for the choke.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Bronca.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bronca is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Austin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Austin for a finish. Austin is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Bronca throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronca is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Austin is defending well though. Bronca let's go of the attempt for now. Austin preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Bronca. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Austin looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Bronca goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Austin escapes and is now in half guard on top. Bronca is refusing to be controlled, as Austin sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronca landing a few short strikes. Austin is pressing down on Bronca's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bronca is holding on for now. Bronca is looking for a sweep. Austin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bronca moves into full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bronca thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Armando Bronca dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Bronca with a lazy takedown attempt so Austin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Austin gets to his feet - Bronca follows without any prompting. Bronca takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A left and a right from Austin both land. Nice combination. Bronca misses with a takedown attempt and Austin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Bronca avoids the head kick by Austin.
Bronca feints and as Austin raises his hands in defense, Bronca changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bronca tries to free his leg and advance position but Austin is retaining full guard. Bronca stops Austin from standing up. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronca looking to pass the guard. Bronca landing with the ground and pound. Austin keeping moving, preventing Bronca from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bronca accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Austin trying to keep a closed guard but Bronca is proving a slippery customer.
Bronca is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Austin controls Bronca momentarily but Bronca frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bronca with a nice head shot there. Bronca postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Austin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bronca, into his guard. Bronca looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bronca looking for a sweep. Not yet Bronca, not yet. Bronca can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Austin controls the pace. Bronca will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Austin won't allow Bronca to sweep him here. Austin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bronca swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bronca is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Austin cracks Bronca with a solid left hand. Austin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bronca wants to stand up but Austin is controlling him. Bronca looking to hit a scissor sweep but Austin is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bronca looking for a guillotine here but Austin defends easily.
Austin gets to his feet - Bronca follows without any prompting. Armando Bronca is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Austin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bronca tries for a takedown but Austin circles away easily and Austin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Steve Austin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Austin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
