The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rawkus takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
It looks like Tommy Rawkus has been cut.
Rawkus gets a clinch.
Rawkus lands a good knee to the midsection. Ortiz won't want to take too many of those.
A head punch on the inside from Rawkus fails to land.
Ortiz gets control of Rawkus's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ortiz will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Rawkus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ortiz looking for a guillotine here but Rawkus defends easily.

Rawkus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ortiz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rawkus is aware though and is defending well.

Rawkus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ortiz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ortiz throws a series of punches but Rawkus moves out of range.
Rawkus fails with a takedown attempt.
Rawkus scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Ortiz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ortiz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ortiz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rawkus as he jumps to the side.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rawkus looks to land a combination. Ortiz sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Rawkus shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ortiz counters by clinching up.
Ortiz lands with a right to the head.
Ortiz breaks from the clinch.
Rawkus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jean Carlos Ortiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Rawkus.
Rawkus shoots and misses
and Rawkus takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ortiz avoids the head kick by Rawkus.
Ortiz lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ortiz shoots in and bounces Rawkus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Rawkus is trying to keep Ortiz in close.

Ortiz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rawkus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ortiz passes Rawkus's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Ortiz postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Rawkus bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Ortiz and the fight is over!
