Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Davy Geerts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Lupul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lupul is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Strangled With A Halo, Pig Destroyer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Davy Geerts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Greg Lupul! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Geerts misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lupul gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Geerts takes a knee right on the jaw!
Lupul is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Geerts is defending well for now. Knees in the clinch landing for Lupul.

Lupul utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Geerts is breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lupul has clasped his hands together around Geerts's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Lupul looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Geerts is avoiding damage well.
Lupul working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lupul working the ground and pound. Lupul tries to advance to mount but Geerts instead regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lupul is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Lupul has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Lupul frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Lupul dominating with strikes here. Lupul is going olschool here, as he tries to force Geerts to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Geerts shrugs it off. Lupul working away from the top, dropping strikes. Lupul jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Geerts manages to avoid the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lupul working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Lupul throwing strikes but Geerts manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Lupul is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Geerts's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Lupul wants to improve his position but Geerts is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lupul is pressing down on Geerts's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Geerts wants to stand but Lupul is controlling his posture from full guard. Lupul thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lupul wants to sweep but no luck. Geerts postures up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Geerts is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lupul.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lupul throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Geerts throws a series of punches but Lupul moves out of range. Geerts keeps the fight on the outside. Lupul tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Geerts swivels and escapes. Geerts misses with a jab, cross combination.

Lupul shoots in and bounces Geerts off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Lupul pushing down on Geerts's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lupul is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lupul tries to pass the half guard into mount. Geerts knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greg Lupul dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Lupul tries to close the distance and clinch up but Geerts swats him away and circles back towards the center. Lupul clinches up with Geerts and pushes him back against the ropes. Lupul pulls guard. Geerts is looking to stand up but Lupul won't let him. Lupul manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Lupul sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Lupul wants to control the pace but Geerts is squirming around nicely. Geerts is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Geerts is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Lupul unloads with some shots from mount but Geerts bucks and avoids them well.
Lupul won't let Geerts get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Lupul moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Geerts has worked his arm free - good work by Geerts!
Lupul lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Geerts down.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Geerts misses the target. Lupul clinches up against the ropes. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Lupul utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Geerts is pressed up against the ropes. Lupul has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Geerts down to the mat. Geerts avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Lupul tries to clinch but Geerts moves out of range. Lupul wants to clinch. Lupul wants to clinch up but Geerts keeps it at a distance. Lupul fails to land the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lupul is defended easily by Geerts. Davy Geerts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Lupul. Lupul on the wrong end of a nice jab. Geerts throws a series of punches but Lupul avoids them all with ease. Lupul rushes Geerts and presses him up against the ropes. Lupul missing with knees to the body.

Lupul jumps guard and drags Geerts to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Geerts has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lupul is proving hard to escape from. Lupul lands some strikes from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lupul is on top in guard.
Lupul loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lupul seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Geerts wants to stand up but Lupul is controlling him. Lupul slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Check out the look on Lupul's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Greg Lupul showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Lupul instigates a clinch. Lupul throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Geerts blocks it with crossed arms. Lupul crunches a lovely knee into Geerts's ribcage. Geerts looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Lupul is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Lupul working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Lupul unloads a knee to the mid-section. Geerts lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Lupul lands a good knee to the midsection. Geerts won't want to take too many of those. Greg Lupul seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Lupul can't get the takedown.

Geerts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nice defenses there by Lupul. Lupul avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lupul is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lupul tries to clinch but Geerts moves out of range. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Lupul.
Lupul has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Geerts finds it's way round the side to connect with Lupul's head. Davy Geerts is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lupul displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Geerts throws out the jab. Lupul shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Geerts defends it nicely. Lupul just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab from Geerts finds it's way through Lupul's defenses. Lupul tries to close the distance and clinch but Geerts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lupul clinches up against the ropes. A left hand lands to the body for Lupul.

Davy Geerts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Lupul. Geerts misses with a straight right. Lupul moves in looking to clinch but Geerts pushes him off. Lupul throws a looping overhand right but Geerts ducks down to avoid it. Geerts chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Lupul fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Geerts avoids it really well and circles away. Geerts throws a nice looking combination but Lupul bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Geerts comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Geerts keeps the fight on the outside. Geerts throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lupul.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lupul. Geerts slaps away a takedown attempt from Lupul, before circling back to the center of the mat. Geerts misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The fighters circling - Geerts throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Greg Lupul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lupul tries to clinch up. Geerts stuffs the takedown. Lupul slips a jab and a cross from Geerts.

Geerts manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Geerts tries to bum rush Lupul with a series of wild strikes but Lupul uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Lupul fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lupul blocks a jab. Geerts pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Lupul lands a nice looking body kick. Lupul tries to clinch but Geerts is having none of it. Lupul moves in looking to clinch but Geerts pushes him off. Geerts avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Greg Lupul is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Lupul is looking to clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Greg Lupul comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Lupul has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
