Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Julian de Rijger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago de Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago de Silva struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
de Silva looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

de Rijger drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

de Silva is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
de Rijger wants to stand but de Silva has his arm trapped.

de Rijger has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and de Rijger counters with a nice uppercut.
de Rijger tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but de Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away.

de Rijger lands a takedown into guard.
de Rijger wants to get up but he can't break de Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

de Silva is working an open guard so de Rijger takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and de Rijger decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in de Silva's guard.
de Silva wants to control the position but de Rijger says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
de Rijger wants to stand but de Silva has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

de Rijger decides to stand up, so the ref orders de Silva to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

de Silva tries to pull guard but de Rijger holds him up against the cage and eventually de Silva drops back down to his feet.

de Rijger gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, de Silva regains guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
