Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, muuhamed ali! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Weir! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weir decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. ali looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Weir is nestled in close to ali, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Weir is trying to control the action in half guard but ali is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Weir wants to work for an arm triangle but ali is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
ali is staying active underneath Weir, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Weir is trying to work for a kimura but ali is defending well.
ali blocking the ground and pound attempt from Weir. Weir landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Still in half guard, Weir seems content to control. Weir wants to lay and pray for a moment but ali keeps working. Weir passes to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weir is looking to take a break and control but ali is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Weir gets to mount! ali was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Weir takes ali's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, ali is in trouble. Weir looking for the RNC. ali is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Weir gets his way!
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! ali is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Weir.
ali knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Weir on the ground. Weir has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. ali is defending well but eventually Weir manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! ali has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
