PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Paco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Heartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heartman has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Andre Heartman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Paco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Heartman!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heartman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Paco looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Heartman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Paco is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Heartman off and has taken his back!
Heartman looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Paco is looking to control Heartman but Heartman is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Heartman is in bad spot here.
Heartman has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Paco.
Heartman tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Heartman is working to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heartman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Paco is looking to stand but Paco has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Paco wants to control but instead Heartman manages to regain half guard.
Heartman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Heartman throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Heartman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Paco is looking for a sweep. Heartman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heartman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Paco sees it coming and defends easily.

Heartman is trying to work for a kimura but Paco is defending well.
Paco has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Heartman is working away from the top position though.
Heartman stalling.
Heartman stops Paco from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heartman prevents Paco from improving his position.

Heartman seems to be looking for submissions.
Paco pushes Heartman off looking to stand but Heartman dives back in and keeps control.
Heartman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Heartman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Paco throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Heartman's head.
Heartman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Paco with a poor takedown

and Heartman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Heartman.

Heartman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Heartman passes Paco's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Paco wants to get back to full guard.

Heartman seems to be looking for submissions.
Paco is looking to control Heartman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Paco avoid being mounted?
Paco won't allow Heartman to pass to mount.
Paco tries to kick Heartman off but Heartman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Paco won't allow Heartman to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Heartman dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Paco misses with a few strikes there.
Heartman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Paco has his takedown stuffed

and Heartman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Paco's guard now.
Heartman passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Heartman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Paco is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Paco tries to improve position but can't.

Heartman tries for a kimura but Paco is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sloppy strikes there by Heartman.

You can see the frustration on Paco's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Heartman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Heartman has an Americana. Paco didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Heartman is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Heartman hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
