Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Stubbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stubbs kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I Am The Walrus by The Beatles. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Stubbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roy Gracie! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stubbs misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stubbs's corner calls for a 1-2. Stubbs obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Stubbs pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A slow jab from Stubbs misses its intended target. A punch combination from Stubbs misses. Stubbs lands with a right hand. Stubbs misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stubbs looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range. Gracie walks into a straight right hand from Stubbs. Stubbs lands a jab to Gracie's midsection. This has been an exciting period of action! Gracie throws a head kick but Stubbs moves out of range.
Stubbs just misses with a punch to the body.
Stubbs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily. Gracie tries to clinch up but Stubbs circles away and keeps his distance. Stubbs cracks Gracie with a right hand to the side of the head. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stubbs as he avoids it easily. Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stubbs fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Gracie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Stubbs is looking to slow Gracie down with leg kicks. Gracie looks gassed! Stubbs drops Gracie with a left right combo! Stubbs follows him down to the ground into side control.
Gracie is rocked! Gracie tries to bench press Stubbs off him but Stubbs keeps the position. Stubbs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is trying to improve his position. Stubbs controlling the position from side mount. Stubbs lands a few punches from side control. Gracie regains half guard. Stubbs scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Stubbs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Stubbs tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Gracie.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gracie wants to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Gracie manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Stubbs wants to get up but he can't break Gracie's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gracie slips a jab and a cross from Stubbs.
Gracie thows a left - swing and a miss! The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gracie. Gracie wants to clinch up but Stubbs keeps it at a distance. Stubbs scores with a jab to the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stubbs circles away quickly and effectively. Gracie throws a body punch but Stubbs moves out of range. Gracie motions for Stubbs to come forward. Gracie throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Gracie darts in and clinches Stubbs up against the cage. Gracie tries to break free but Stubbs pushes him back against the cage. Gracie wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. A frustrated look appears on Gracie's face as he tries to break the clinch. Gracie jumps guard but Stubbs stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Gracie wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gracie tries to break the clinch but Stubbs is controlling the position. Gracie tries to score a body lock takedown but Stubbs shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Robert Stubbs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Gracie. Stubbs manages to break the clinch.
Nice shot by Stubbs. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Gracie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Stubbs is pushing Gracie's head away, looking to escape. Gracie manages to hold on to the position though. Stubbs is not content to let Gracie control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stubbs gets back to half guard. Stubbs is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well. Gracie is working for a kimura here but Stubbs manages to reverse the position and he's now in Gracie's guard.
Stubbs got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stubbs has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stubbs is sitting in close to Gracie's body. Gracie has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Stubbs is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Stubbs is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gracie.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Roy Gracie!
