Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Silva Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Arenas! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arenas scores with a takedown into Silva's guard. Arenas showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Arenas is controlling him. Arenas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Silva has closed the distance and engaged Arenas in a clinch.
Arenas tries to pull guard but Silva holds him up against the cage and eventually Arenas drops back down to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva manages to break the clinch.
Arenas takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Arenas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes. Silva Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Arenas paws at him with a jab and circles away. Silva moves into the clinch. Silva manages to break the clinch.
Silva looks to land a combination but Arenas avoids it well. Silva lands a body shot.
Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Silva wants to get back to striking at distance but Arenas won't allow it.
Silva breaks from the clinch.
Silva rushes Arenas and presses him up against the cage. Arenas misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Silva.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Silva lands a nice knee to the body. Silva lands a knee to the head.
Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva throws a half hearted mid kick. Silva scores with a head kick.
It looks like Steve Arenas has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Silva wants to clinch up but Arenas keeps it at a distance. Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Arenas circles away.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Arenas paws at him with a jab and circles away. Silva catches Arenas with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Silva swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Arenas. Silva wants to clinch. Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva tries to clinch but Arenas moves out of range. Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Arenas, pushing him back against the cage. Silva crunches a lovely knee into Arenas's ribcage. Silva is trying to maintain a safe position but Arenas gets an underhook and turns Silva into the cage. Arenas has clasped his hands together around Silva's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Arenas is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Silva is pushing Arenas's head away, looking to escape. Arenas manages to hold on to the position though. Arenas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Arenas asserts his dominance and retains side control. Arenas wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy. Silva pushes Arenas away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Arenas gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Silva is letting Arenas control him for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Silva Silva dominated that round. The cut man is working on Steve Arenas's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Silva lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Silva tries to clinch up but Arenas circles away and keeps his distance. Silva lands a left and a right that sends Arenas crashing to the canvas! Silva dives into mount looking to finish! This has been an exciting period of action! Arenas is in all sorts of trouble here.
Silva tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Arenas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Silva is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Arenas wants to hold on but Silva pushes him away. Silva is standing up, even though he is in mount. The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Silva throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Arenas's head. Silva Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Arenas fails with the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arenas tries to keep at a distance but Silva has taken the fight into the clinch. Silva has Arenas pressed against the cage.
Arenas fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Arenas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Silva gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Silva Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Arenas. Arenas trying to stall but Silva improves his position.
Silva landing knees to the head.
Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Silva forces Arenas back against the cage and clinches.

Arenas fails to pull guard.
A bit of stalling here from Silva.
Silva breaks from the clinch.

Silva has closed the distance and engaged Arenas in a clinch.
Arenas is trying to drag Silva to the mat but Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Arenas takes a knee right on the jaw!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Arenas looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Silva! Arenas is going olschool here, as he tries to force Silva to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Silva shrugs it off. You get the feeling that Silva really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Arenas wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely. Silva wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Arenas trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Silva Silva dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Steve Arenas's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Arenas swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva. Some wild striking there from Silva.
Arenas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Arenas circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Arenas. Arenas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Silva scores with a nice strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva misses with the combination.
Silva connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Arenas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Arenas takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Silva is looking to clinch but Arenas is avoiding it.
Arenas keeps the fight on the outside. Silva throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Arenas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Silva clinches up against the cage. Silva breaks from the clinch.
Silva clinches. A short left from Silva.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Silva stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Silva moves into the clinch. Silva lands an elbow inside that Arenas shrugs off. Arenas letting Silva take a breather here. Arenas gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva pushes Arenas off looking to stand but Arenas dives back in and keeps control.
Arenas is pressing down on Silva's thigh, looking to free his foot. Silva is holding on for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is trying to stand back up but Arenas is controlling him
Silva trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Arenas controlling the action here. Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
Silva Silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Silva gets caught flat footed, as Arenas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arenas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Arenas wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving. Silva is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Arenas forces his way into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Arenas prevents Silva from standing back up.
And that's the end of the fight! Silva Silva showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
