The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ritter fails with an attempt to clinch.
St Ali lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ritter circles away quickly and effectively. St Ali connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ritter's hands. St Ali misses with a two punch combination.
St Ali goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Hugo Ritter has been cut. Ritter clinches up with St Ali and pushes him back against the cage. St Ali has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Ritter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. St Ali gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. St Ali wants to stall.

Ritter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. St Ali did well to prevent Ritter getting side control. Ritter not landing any meaningful shots this time. Ritter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so St Ali is just riding it out for now. Ritter eventually gives up the hold. Ritter is just content to waste time from the top position. St Ali takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. St Ali drops his hands momentarily and Ritter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Ritter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. St Ali was covering up waiting for the punch and Ritter finishes the takedown easily into guard. Ritter content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ritter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ritter decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. St Ali uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ritter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ritter connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused St Ali some visible discomfort.
