The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McAvoy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stratton as he avoids it easily.
McAvoy drives through and clinches with Stratton against the cage.
McAvoy gets a trip takedown into half guard.
McAvoy prevents Stratton from improving his position.
Stratton is pressing down on McAvoy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Stratton tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stratton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McAvoy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

McAvoy lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McAvoy wants to take a breather but Stratton is having none of it.
Stratton wants to improve his position but McAvoy is controlling well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McAvoy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - McAvoy has eaten all the pies!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stratton is on top in guard.
Stratton passes McAvoy's left leg - he's now in half guard.
McAvoy is not content to let Stratton control the position.

Stratton lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

McAvoy trying to hold on to Stratton's head to control him but Stratton postures up.
Stratton has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Stratton wants to finish this one by submission but McAvoy is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stratton.
Stratton is working for a guillotine from mount but McAvoy frees his head quite easily.
McAvoy is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lucky Stratton will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
McAvoy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Stratton tries to roll over but McAvoy keeps him under control.
Stratton is working hard here to advance position.
Stratton looking for submissions off his back.
McAvoy is taking a breather. Stratton says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

McAvoy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stratton defends it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stratton with a lazy takedown attempt
and McAvoy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stratton's guard now.
McAvoy passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Stratton gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Stratton is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but McAvoy pulls his head out easily.
McAvoy sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stratton defending well though.
Stratton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McAvoy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McAvoy's back!
Stratton is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. McAvoy defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stratton is looking for a choke. McAvoy gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. McAvoy manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Stratton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McAvoy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stratton working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because McAvoy has passed into half guard!
McAvoy is trying for a kimura here. Stratton looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! McAvoy wins by kimura!
