Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pat McDermot! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles Cheng! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cheng changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McDermot looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Cheng is working McDermot over with some ground and pound from side control. Cheng working the ground and pound but McDermot is defending the strikes. McDermot is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cheng asserts his dominance and retains side control. Cheng working the head with strikes. Cheng in side control, throwing shots but McDermot defends. McDermot might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cheng throws an elbow but McDermot slips to the side and avoids it well. Cheng working the ground and pound. Cheng is looking to take a break and control but McDermot is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McDermot is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Cheng has just dragged him back down to the mat. McDermot is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cheng throws a strike aimed at the side of McDermot's head but McDermot avoids it well. Cheng cracks McDermot with a big right hand but McDermot just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's two minutes gone in the round. McDermot has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Cheng darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. McDermot pushes Cheng off looking to stand but Cheng dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cheng tries to clinch but McDermot is having none of it. McDermot leaves Cheng with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A swing and a miss from Cheng. McDermot scores with a punch to the head. McDermot tries to land a front kick but Cheng steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDermot defending well as Cheng loads up on a big left hand. McDermot throws a right hand that Cheng ducks under and follows up with a left that Cheng also avoids with ease. Cheng throws a looping overhand right but McDermot ducks down to avoid it. Cheng shoots in looking for a takedown. McDermot tries to sprawl out of it but Cheng keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. McDermot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Cheng misses with a wild body shot. Cheng shoots in for a takedown but McDermot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Pat McDermot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Cheng. McDermot throws a solid leg kick but Cheng takes the impact on his shin and smiles at McDermot. McDermot slips under a jab from Cheng. McDermot throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cheng sees it coming and avoids it easily. Pat McDermot is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McDermot looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. McDermot attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. McDermot lands a right hook to the body.
Cheng looks gassed! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McDermot throws out a leg kick but Cheng moves out of range and McDermot only half commits. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Cheng dominated that round. That's time! McDermot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Cheng swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Cheng throws the left hand but McDermot avoids the punch easily. McDermot misses with a few strikes there.
McDermot throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cheng is looking to clinch but McDermot is avoiding it.
Cheng throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McDermot sees it coming and avoids it easily. Cheng is looking to clinch. McDermot misses with a hook. Cheng blocks the body kick.
McDermot lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. McDermot lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cheng circles away quickly and effectively. Cheng is looking to clinch but McDermot is avoiding it.
Some bone on bone action there as Cheng checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Pat McDermot is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cheng throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cheng tries to free his leg and advance position but McDermot is retaining full guard. Cheng pushing down on McDermot's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Cheng has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cheng thows a huge punch but McDermot dodges it nicely.
McDermot is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cheng scores with a couple of nice shots. McDermot is trying to stand up here but Cheng is controlling him well. Cheng looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Cheng lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. McDermot is defending against the submission attempts here by Cheng.
Cheng is breathing heavily. Cheng wants to free his trapped foot but McDermot is holding on for dear life with his legs.

McDermot counters though and makes it back to full guard. McDermot working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cheng. McDermot wants to stand and escape but Cheng is having none of it. McDermot wants to sweep but no luck. Cheng working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Cheng wants to pass the guard but McDermot is keeping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. McDermot throws a hook to the side of Cheng's head but Cheng sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. The fighters circling - Cheng throws out the jab but it was never going to land. McDermot misses with a looping right. Cheng is looking to clinch. McDermot cracks Cheng with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McDermot!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McDermot misses with a double jab.

Cheng moves out of range of the strikes. The fight stays on the outside here - Cheng looks like he's thinking about clinching though. McDermot tries to work over Cheng's front leg with a kick but Cheng checks it. Cheng drives through and clinches with McDermot against the ropes.
A frustrated look appears on Cheng's face as he tries to break the clinch. McDermot wants to break the clinch but can't.
McDermot has Cheng pressed against the ropes, preventing Cheng from circling away and getting back to striking at range. McDermot slowing the pace effectively. Cheng drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cheng keeping moving, preventing McDermot from controlling successfully. Cheng looking to hit a scissor sweep but McDermot is one step ahead there. Charles Cheng has got the better of the ground game so far.

Charles Cheng seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cheng takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. McDermot misses with a double jab.

McDermot moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. McDermot wants to sweep here but Cheng controlling him for the moment. McDermot keeping full guard, as Cheng tries to pass. Cheng with a flurry of punches that miss. Cheng pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDermot is keeping the position for now.

Cheng closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cheng lands in his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cheng accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McDermot keeping moving, preventing Cheng from controlling successfully. Cheng pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDermot is keeping the position for now. Horrible takedown by Cheng or perhaps it was just good defense by McDermot which made him look bad. McDermot keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cheng. A shot to the body from Cheng misses and McDermot makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. McDermot lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Charles Cheng has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A decent looking cross lands there for McDermot. McDermot throws a low kick but Cheng avoids it. McDermot looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Cheng gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Cheng is rocked! It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. A chopping leg kick lands by McDermot. Cheng misses with a straight right.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDermot stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. McDermot lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Cheng gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling McDermot to counter with a crisp jab. Cheng is still on wobbly legs! Can McDermot finish him? Cheng stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McDermot. Cheng seems to have recovered his senses. McDermot connects with a superb combination that knocks Cheng out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles McDermot before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Cheng!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Pat McDermot! Pat McDermot retains his light heavyweight title!
