The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suarez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A left and a right from Winterflood both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Angel Suarez has been cut. Winterflood misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Suarez tries to close the distance and clinch but Winterflood swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Suarez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Winterflood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Suarez. Winterflood scores with a three punch combo!
Suarez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Winterflood sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Suarez somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angel Suarez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Suarez fails to land the takedown. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Winterflood lands a with a good body shot. Winterflood jabs at Suarez's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suarez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Winterflood swats him away and circles back towards the center. Winterflood lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Winterflood throws a series of punches but Suarez avoids them all with ease. Winterflood stuffs the takedown. Suarez is breathing heavily. Winterflood shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Winterflood decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Suarez is controlling Winterflood's trapped leg to prevent Winterflood from advancing to side control. Winterflood slips a nice elbow through Suarez's hands, connecting with Suarez's forehead. Winterflood throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Suarez looking for a kimura from the bottom but Winterflood passes into side control! Suarez parries the strikes from Winterflood easily there. Winterflood is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Suarez to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suarez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Winterflood's best efforts. Suarez is trying to stand up here but Winterflood is controlling him well. Suarez is not content to let Winterflood control the position. Suarez is in trouble now - Winterflood has advanced to mount! Winterflood takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suarez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Winterflood wants to control the pace but Suarez is squirming around nicely. Winterflood might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Suarez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Suarez is looking to get to half guard. Suarez is working hard here to advance position. Winterflood can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Suarez is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ronnie Winterflood dominated that round. The cut man is working on Angel Suarez's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Winterflood misses with a wild combination.
Winterflood catches Suarez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Ronnie Winterflood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Suarez misses with a takedown and Winterflood counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Suarez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Winterflood counters with a series of strikes. Suarez will be more careful next time no doubt. Winterflood has his takedown stuffed and Suarez counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Winterflood is breathing heavily. Suarez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Winterflood did well to prevent Suarez getting side control. Suarez is keen to just control but Winterflood is a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suarez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Winterflood doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Suarez. Suarez escapes and gets back to his feet. Winterflood scores with a takedown into Suarez's guard. Winterflood trying to control the position from guard on top but Suarez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suarez looking for a triangle here. Winterflood is fighting it but it looks tight! Suarez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Winterflood is tapping out - this one is all over!
