PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tory Kitcha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vincent Lee told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tory Kitcha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincent Lee!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee feints and as Kitcha raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kitcha looking for a guillotine here but Lee defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kitcha working for submissions but it's allowed Lee to get to half guard.

Kitcha really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kitcha sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kitcha. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kitcha manages to get to full guard.

Kitcha had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lee is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kitcha Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lee's back instead.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kitcha controlling well, preventing Lee from escaping the position.

Kitcha is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lee has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Kitcha tries to get the hooks in deep but Lee pushed the leg off.

Lee is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kitcha gets his way!

Kitcha is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Kitcha is striking from the back but Lee escapes and manages to recover to half guard.

Kitcha decides to stand up.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kitcha is working to get back to half guard.
Kitcha regains half guard.
Kitcha is trying to get back to full guard.
Lee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lee prevents Kitcha from improving his position.

Kitcha slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Kitcha is looking for a triangle but Lee pushes his legs off easily.
Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lee stays in close to Kitcha's body and controls the position.
Kitcha looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kitcha looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kitcha throws his legs up looking for a submission but Lee uses it to pass to side control.
Kitcha is looking for a sweep.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Vincent Lee will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Kitcha wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.

Lee is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kitcha off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Kitcha is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lee is defending well though. Kitcha let's go of the attempt for now.

Kitcha is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lee defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Lee surviving as best he can, preventing damage.

Kitcha is persistently looking for the submission but Lee is defending it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tory Kitcha showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kitcha has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
