Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and lou baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). lou baker is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Simpson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, lou baker! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! baker lands a nice looking kick to the body. Simpson takes a step back to recover. Simpson shoots in for a double leg but baker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Simpson leaves baker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Simpson fails with the takedown and baker counters with a lovely straight right hand! baker shoots in for a takedown but Simpson shows good takedown defense. Simpson with a lazy takedown attempt and baker counters with a good, hard body kick but Simpson shrugs it off. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Simpson with a lazy takedown attempt and baker counters with a head kick. That will keep Simpson thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Simpson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. baker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simpson is breathing heavily. baker wants to stand but Simpson is controlling the position. Simpson throws and elbow that misses. baker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Simpson's guard. Nice move by baker! Simpson is trying to control the position but baker postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson wants to sweep here but baker controlling him for the moment. Simpson trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. baker trying to control but Simpson is working from the bottom. Simpson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Simpson looking to hit a scissor sweep but baker is one step ahead there.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Thud! ouch! good body kick from baker - that will leave a mark!
baker pushes Simpson away with a front kick. baker lands a body shot.
Simpson with a poor takedown and baker counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Simpson shoots and misses and baker counters with a big head kick but Simpson shrugs it off. baker scores with a nice body kick.
baker thows a body kick. Simpson tries to catch it but that hurt him. Simpson will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Simpson with a poor takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. baker shoots in and bounces Simpson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. baker trying to control but Simpson is working from the bottom. baker sitting in guard, not really doing much. baker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Simpson is proving hard to escape from.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simpson wants to hit a switch here but baker passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Simpson there! Simpson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. baker tries to control but Simpson wriggling away. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Simpson can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Simpson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Simpson tries to get out of the position. baker avoids the attempt from Simpson to control. baker raining down shots from the mount! Simpson is desperately trying to improve his position but baker has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simpson slips a jab from baker. Simpson misses with a takedown and baker counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Simpson! Simpson is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. baker prevents Simpson from getting the reversal. Simpson wants to control but baker is having none of it. baker controlling from mount. Simpson wants to control but baker is having none of it.

Simpson regains half guard. Simpson tries to roll over but baker keeps him under control. Simpson trying to control but baker postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. baker blocks the strikes from Simpson.
Simpson wants to get back to full guard. Simpson keeping control of the position. Simpson is looking for a sweep. baker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Simpson tries for a takedown but baker circles away easily letting baker counter with a right hand. Simpson tries to score a power double leg takedown but baker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Simpson somewhat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
lou baker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Simpson wants to control from the top but baker keeps moving. baker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simpson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Simpson is looking to work some ground and pound but baker has wrist control. Simpson distracts baker with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Simpson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Simpson wants to control from the top but baker keeps moving. Simpson throws a big right hand that misses. Simpson trying to control but baker is working from the bottom. baker preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Simpson trying to control the position from guard on top but baker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Simpson dives in and grabs baker's left leg, looking for a takedown. baker pushes down on Simpson's head and hops out. Simpson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. baker pushes Simpson away with a front kick. Simpson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has baker pinned against the cage. baker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from baker. Simpson shrugs it off though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. baker slaps away a takedown attempt from Simpson, before circling back to the center of the mat. baker scores with a head kick.
Simpson takes a kick to the side of the head. Simpson tries to score a power double leg takedown but baker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Simpson somewhat. baker throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Simpson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but baker swivels and escapes. baker takes the fight into the clinch. baker goes for a takedown attempt but Simpson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
baker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Simpson looking to sit in guard and control but baker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Simpson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. baker trying to control the position from guard on top but Simpson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! Aaron Simpson showed his dominance in that final round. I think baker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
