PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Chambers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bif Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hart has chosen Daddy Cool as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Bif Hart will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Chambers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bif Hart!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chambers uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hart.

Chambers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chambers lands in his opponent's guard.
Hart is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hart keeping full guard, as Chambers tries to pass.
Chambers trying to control the position from guard on top but Hart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chambers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hart doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chambers.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Chambers slips a jab and a cross from Hart.
Hart is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chambers misses with a takedown attempt - Hart sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chambers dodges the punch combination from Hart.

Hart tries to clinch but Chambers is having none of it.

Chambers takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hart lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chambers backs up against the cage.
Hart wants to clinch up but Chambers keeps it at a distance.

Chambers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hart's guard.

Hart looks gassed!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chambers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Chambers trying to control but Hart is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chambers throws a strike but Hart rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Chambers is pulling down on Hart's head. It's preventing any offense from Hart, at least for the moment.

Hart throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hart tries to clinch but Chambers moves out of range.
Hart scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
A nice inside leg kick there by Hart. That's going to slow Chambers down.

Hart gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chambers to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hart is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hart can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chambers controls the pace.

Chambers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hart is breathing heavily.
Chambers stays in close to Hart's body and controls the position.
Hart keeping moving, preventing Chambers from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Chambers gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hart swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chambers.
Hart doesn't manage to clinch there - Chambers circles away.

Hart connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Bif Hart is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A punch combination from Hart misses.
Hart throws a right and a left that Chambers avoids nicely.

Hart misses with a head kick.
Hart connects with a looping right hand.
Chambers checks a leg kick.
Hart tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chambers tries for a takedown but Hart sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hart leaves Chambers with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Chambers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hart throws a right hand that Chambers ducks under and follows up with a left that Chambers also avoids with ease.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hart throws a nice inside leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hart looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Chambers swats away the attempt to clinch by Hart.
Hart swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Chambers feints and as Hart raises his hands in defense, Chambers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chambers is pushing down on Hart's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hart is fighting to maintain full guard but Chambers has managed to sneak the leg through.

Chambers is trying to work for a kimura but Hart is defending well.
Chambers thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Hart is trying to stand back up but Chambers is controlling him

Chambers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Chambers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chambers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Chambers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chambers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
