Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hempii Sapponen!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sapponen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sapponen showed some decent athleticism there.
Burns tries to kick Sapponen off but Sapponen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sapponen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sapponen wants to pass to mount but Burns is defending the position.

Sapponen decides to return to a standing position.
Sapponen tries for a takedown but Burns sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sapponen blocks a head kick by Burns.
Burns showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sapponen.
Burns throws a sloppy head kick and Sapponen moves out of range easily.
Sapponen shoots for a double leg takedown but Burns sprawls well. He's pushed Sapponen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Burns throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sapponen throws a body punch but Burns moves out of range.

Sapponen is trying to control. Burns wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Burns is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Sapponen pulls his head out easily.

Burns feints and then cracks Sapponen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sapponen down.

A close second round but Hempii Sapponen will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Burns's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Burns is looking to control Sapponen but Sapponen is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Sapponen is trying to get back to his feet but Burns has full control of the position and if anything, Sapponen has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Sapponen wants to escape the position.
Burns biding his time, controlling Sapponen.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sapponen is trying to break free.
Burns is riding his opponent, not letting Sapponen buck him off.
Burns controlling well, preventing Sapponen from escaping the position.
Burns has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Sapponen's body.
Sapponen is really stuck here.
Brian Burns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
