PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Milson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zero has chosen José the Bronx Rican - Spittin' Narcicism as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Milson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Zero!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zero pushes Milson up against the cage in a clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Milson.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Milson slows down the pace here.

Zero breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Milson wants to clinch but Zero slips to the side

and Zero counters with a takedown into side control.
Milson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Zero keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Milson tries to get to full guard but Zero has control of the leg.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Milson is trying to get back to full guard.
Milson wants to control but Zero is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Zero thows a huge punch but Milson dodges it nicely.
Zero looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Zero is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Zero closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Milson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Zero is defending well for now.
Milson prevents Zero from breaking the clinch.
Zero wants a takedown but no success here.
Milson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Zero pulls his leg out and moves away.
Zero blocks a head kick by Milson.

Milson has managed to clinch.
Milson is struggling to control the position.
Zero prevents a takedown attempt there.
Zero blocks the elbow strike.

Zero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Milson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Zero wants to get back to full guard.
Milson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zero's head.

Milson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Zero has managed to free his arm - good work.
Zero regains full guard. Nicely done.

Zero is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Milson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zero works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Zero has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Milson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Zero.

Zero takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Zero is working to avoid the ground and pound but Milson connects with a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Milson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zero keeps working.

Zero is looking for a sweep.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Max Zero will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zero shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Milson as he avoids it easily.
No luck for Zero with that takedown attempt.

Milson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Milson showed some decent athleticism there.

Zero kicks Milson off and gets back to his feet.
Milson slaps away a takedown attempt from Zero, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Max Milson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Zero.

Zero has Milson up against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Zero blocks the elbow strike.
Milson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Zero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Max Zero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Zero counters by moving into the clinch.

Zero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Milson throws a leg kick but Zero sees it coming and moves out of range.

Milson clinches up with Zero and pushes him back against the cage.
Zero gets underhooks to prevent Milson's takedown attempt.
Milson wants to stall.

Zero turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Zero manages to end up in side control.
Milson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Zero off and has taken his back!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Milson. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Zero has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Zero is breathing heavily.
Zero manages to reverse the position and now he's in Milson's guard. Nice work there by Zero.
Zero trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Milson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Zero wants to pass the guard but Milson is keeping the position.

Milson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Zero is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Milson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Zero's back instead.
Milson controlling well, preventing Zero from escaping the position.

Milson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Milson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zero is looking to escape.
Zero is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Milson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Milson dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Milson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Zero circles away.

Zero is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Milson pulls his head out easily.

Milson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Milson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Milson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Milson trying to control the action but Zero is working from the bottom.
Milson winds up and cracks Zero with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Zero is looking for a sweep. Milson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Milson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Milson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Milson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Zero looks a forlorn figure.
Zero is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Zero tries to hold on but Milson pushes him away.
Milson cracks Zero with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Zero tries to reverse the position but Milson maintains control.
Max Milson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Milson looking to control but Zero is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Milson landing strikes, looking to finish!
Milson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Zero can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Zero wants to control but Milson is having none of it.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Milson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Milson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Zero's face.

Milson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Milson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Milson has hold of Zero's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Zero manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Max Milson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Milson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
