Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marco Alvarado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Hawla! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawla closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Alvarado sneaks back into half guard. Hawla works his foot free and advances to mount. Hawla takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Alvarado is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Hawla has taken his back! Hawla has Alvarado flattened out and is raining down punches. Alvarado wants to escape the position.

Alvarado is looking to get to half guard. The referee warns Alvarado that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Hawla content just to control the position here. Hawla looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Alvarado tries to hold on but Hawla pushes him away. Hawla is in the full mount, landing strikes. Hawla controlling from the full mount. Alvarado is trying desperately to improve position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alvarado swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Hawla trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Hawla dominated that round. That's time! Alvarado's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Alvarado tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Alvarado has his takedown stuffed and Hawla counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hawla. Hawla passes Alvarado's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hawla prevents Alvarado from improving his position. Hawla is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hawla passes to full mount! Hawla looking to control but Alvarado is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hawla gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Hawla shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hawla showed some decent athleticism there. Hawla wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alvarado keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawla is looking to advance position but Alvarado won't allow it. Hawla thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alvarado's head. Hawla prevents Alvarado from standing back up.

Alvarado wants to get back to full guard but Hawla has mounted him! Hawla scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Alvarado?

Despite being in the dominant position, Johnny Hawla just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Alvarado shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hawla counters by clinching up.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Alvarado. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alvarado is trying to force a seperation but Hawla has the dominant position. Hawla manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Hawla's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Alvarado looks to clinch and Hawla counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hawla. Alvarado wants a takedown but no success here.

Alvarado working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hawla turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Alvarado off and cradles Hawla's limp body as Alvarado celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Marco Alvarado!
