The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sawyer keeps the fight on the outside.
Maia fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sawyer listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Sawyer moves into the clinch.

Sawyer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Maia can't fight it off and eventually Sawyer manages to take the fight to the floor. Maia looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Maia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sawyer ducks under a wild hook from Maia.
Sawyer throws a right hand that Maia ducks under and follows up with a left that Maia also avoids with ease.
Maia misses with a wild body shot.
Maia stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Maia drops Sawyer with a nice combination! Maia dives into Sawyer's guard, looking to finish!


Sawyer is rocked!


It looks like Thomas Sawyer has been cut.
Maia controls from within his opponent's guard.
Oh Sawyer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Maia takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Maia misses with a looping right.
Maia tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Sawyer counters with a takedown into side control.
Sawyer just content to control the position.
Maia takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

enabling Sawyer to counter with a crisp jab.

Maia swings away with a body shot that misses
and Sawyer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sawyer throws the left hand but Maia avoids the punch easily.

Sawyer swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Maia.

Sawyer jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Maia falls off balance throwing a combination
and Sawyer counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Maia is still on wobbly legs! Can Sawyer finish him?
Sawyer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Maia shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Sawyer counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Sawyer shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Maia takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Sawyer sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Maia bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
