Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Zarch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick O Malley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Malley has chosen Shipping up to Boston as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Zarch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Patrick O Malley!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Malley is looking to clinch.
Zarch shoots for a double leg takedown but O Malley sprawls well. He's pushed Zarch's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
O Malley tries to bum rush Zarch with a series of wild strikes but Zarch uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Zarch fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but O Malley avoids it really well and circles away.
O Malley tries to close the distance and clinch but Zarch swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

O Malley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Zarch is looking for a sweep.
O Malley scores with a couple of short elbows.
Zarch looking for a sweep but O Malley has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Zarch wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

O Malley pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
O Malley wants to control the pace but Zarch is squirming around nicely.
O Malley lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Zarch's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
O Malley cracks Zarch with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Zarch is breathing heavily.

The referee warns Zarch that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
O Malley has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Zarch has gone for a leg lock! O Malley slips out almost immediately though and dives into Zarch's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
O Malley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zarch keeps working.

Zarch had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. O Malley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Zarch Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take O Malley's back instead.

O Malley is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
O Malley trying to get back to his feet but Zarch is in full control for now.
O Malley looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

That's time! Zarch's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



O Malley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Zarch, pushing him back against the cage.
Zarch tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
O Malley lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Zarch pulls guard effortlessly.

O Malley gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
O Malley fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zarch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and O Malley counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zarch tries to kick O Malley off but O Malley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Zarch is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but O Malley pulls his head out easily.
O Malley passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Zarch!

Zarch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

O Malley decides to stand back up. O Malley steps back and let's Zarch get back to his feet.
O Malley tries to clinch up but Zarch circles away and keeps his distance.
O Malley fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

O Malley scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Zarch is squirming around, avoiding O Malley's attempts to control the action.

O Malley lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Zarch is desperately trying to improve his position but O Malley has a good base and remains in mount.

Patrick O Malley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

O Malley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - O Malley lands in his opponent's guard.

O Malley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zarch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, O Malley has managed to get both his arms back between Zarch's legs - danger averted.

O Malley connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Zarch some visible discomfort.

O Malley wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zarch, who protects the arm well.
Zarch is not content to let O Malley control the position.
Zarch wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Zarch is looking for a sweep.

O Malley stands up and beckons Zarch to his feet.
O Malley throws a right and a left that Zarch avoids nicely.

Zarch gets the takedown into side control.

Zarch tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zarch has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zarch thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

O Malley throws a low kick but Zarch avoids it.

Zarch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

O Malley is looking to advance position but Zarch won't allow it.
Patrick O Malley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Zarch kicks O Malley off and gets back to his feet.

O Malley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

I would just about give that final round to Patrick O Malley.
Well O Malley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
