The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munroe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Munroe showed some decent athleticism there.
Munroe wants to pass the guard but Zee Jr is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Munroe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Zee Jr is trying to maintain the position but Munroe is very close to passing his half guard.

Munroe looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Zee Jr with a poor takedown
so Munroe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Zee Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Munroe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Munroe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Munroe passes Zee Jr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Munroe. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Munroe is looking to take a break and control but Zee Jr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Munroe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zee Jr doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Munroe.

Zee Jr throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Munroe escapes and throws Zee Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zee Jr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Munroe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Munroe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zee Jr keeps working.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Munroe has hold of Zee Jr's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Zee Jr tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Munroe cranks the arm and Zee Jr screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Zee Jr, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
