Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gray McVeigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Anderssen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lars Anderssen is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gray McVeigh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lars Anderssen!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderssen tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and McVeigh is able to avoid easily.
No luck for Anderssen with that takedown attempt.

McVeigh drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Anderssen manages to get back to half guard.
McVeigh thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McVeigh thows a huge punch but Anderssen dodges it nicely.
McVeigh takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Anderssen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Anderssen.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McVeigh accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Anderssen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Anderssen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McVeigh's guard.
McVeigh looking for a sweep. Not yet McVeigh, not yet.
Anderssen trying to stand up but can't free himself from McVeigh's guard.

Anderssen with a flurry of punches that miss.
McVeigh manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Anderssen manages to get himself to full guard.
Anderssen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McVeigh wants to control from the top but Anderssen keeps moving.

Anderssen looking for a guillotine here but McVeigh defends easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Anderssen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McVeigh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Anderssen looks gassed!

Anderssen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McVeigh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McVeigh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

McVeigh ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McVeigh no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
McVeigh manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Anderssen is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

BOOM! McVeigh connects with a massive shot to the dome!

McVeigh avoids the attempt from Anderssen to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McVeigh lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

McVeigh jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Anderssen manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Check out the look on McVeigh's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

McVeigh wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Anderssen, who protects the arm well.
Anderssen manages to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anderssen wants to control but McVeigh is keeping busy.
Anderssen tries to get to full guard but McVeigh has control of the leg.
McVeigh drops an elbow to the side of Anderssen's head.
Anderssen flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Anderssen is looking to improve his position.
McVeigh takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Anderssen tries to kick McVeigh off but McVeigh keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gray McVeigh dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McVeigh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderssen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McVeigh takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Anderssen is trying to control but can't.
Anderssen is looking to get back to full guard here but McVeigh has managed to pass to side control instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Anderssen is squirming around, avoiding McVeigh's attempts to control the action.

McVeigh postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Anderssen looks a forlorn figure.
McVeigh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Anderssen wants to control but McVeigh is having none of it.
Anderssen really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Anderssen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
McVeigh has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Anderssen's face.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McVeigh lands with some strikes.
McVeigh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Anderssen is working to get back to half guard.
McVeigh postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Anderssen looks a forlorn figure.
McVeigh is landing with some decent strikes but Anderssen is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

McVeigh is going olschool here, as he tries to force Anderssen to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Anderssen shrugs it off.

McVeigh tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Anderssen throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Anderssen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Anderssen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Anderssen is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
McVeigh fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McVeigh prevents Anderssen from getting the reversal.
McVeigh content just to control the position here.

McVeigh goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Anderssen is on top in guard.
McVeigh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anderssen's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McVeigh wants to control from the top but Anderssen keeps moving.
McVeigh throws and elbow that misses. Anderssen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McVeigh's guard. Nice move by Anderssen!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gray McVeigh dominated that second round.
That's time! McVeigh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Anderssen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Anderssen tries for a takedown but McVeigh circles away easily

McVeigh thows a huge punch but Anderssen dodges it nicely.
McVeigh wants to control but Anderssen is keeping him busy.
Anderssen wants to control but McVeigh is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Anderssen tries to get to full guard but McVeigh has control of the leg.
Anderssen has hold of McVeigh's hands but McVeigh slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
McVeigh is keen to just control but Anderssen is a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McVeigh is taking a breather. Anderssen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Anderssen scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Anderssen shoots and misses

and McVeigh counters with a takedown into side control.
Anderssen is looking to regain half guard here but McVeigh keeps moving and retains side control.

McVeigh stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Anderssen to get to his feet.

McVeigh has taken the fight to the clinch.

Anderssen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

McVeigh clinches up with Anderssen and pushes him back against the cage.
Anderssen blocking some punches.

Anderssen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McVeigh tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Anderssen tries to bum rush McVeigh with a series of wild strikes but McVeigh uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McVeigh shoots in but no luck this time.
McVeigh shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Anderssen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McVeigh.

and McVeigh counters with a single leg into guard. Anderssen didn't expect that.
Gray McVeigh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lars Anderssen.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Anderssen wants to sweep but no luck.

McVeigh passes into half guard.
McVeigh is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Anderssen won't allow McVeigh to pass to mount.
Anderssen is refusing to be controlled, as McVeigh sits in half guard.

McVeigh stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
McVeigh tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderssen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Anderssen fails to land the takedown.

McVeigh has Anderssen up against the cage in a clinch.

Anderssen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McVeigh scores with a takedown into Anderssen's guard.

McVeigh seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lars Anderssen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Gray McVeigh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McVeigh is pushing down on Anderssen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Anderssen is fighting to maintain full guard but McVeigh has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McVeigh passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Anderssen!

And that's the end of the fight!
Gray McVeigh showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for McVeigh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
