PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Blood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tom Blood is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Blood!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
Blood throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Blood tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Blood to the ground. Blood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A combination from Blood does no damage.
Blood looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Blood tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Jones is putting a hurting on Blood here, landing some big shots from side control.
Blood tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.
Check out the look on Jones's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Jones swings around for an armbar but Blood sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jones's guard.

Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Blood scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Blood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Blood counters with a shoot takedown. Jones fights it but they end up in guard.

Jones has his foot on Blood's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blood works his way back into a safe position though.

Blood gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.
No joy there for Blood, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jones fails with the takedown.

Blood shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Blood cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jones regains half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tom Blood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Blood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
