PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Tyson Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cote comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Slaughterhouse-The One kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Tyson Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Cote!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Tyson Jr.
Tyson Jr looks to land a right hand but Cote moved out of range.
Tyson Jr throws a series of punches but Cote avoids them all with ease.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cote.
Cote avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tyson Jr misses with a jab, cross combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tyson Jr dips to his left and cracks Cote with an uppercut!

Tyson Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cote to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Cote drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tyson Jr dives on top into guard.
Tyson Jr stays in close to Cote's body and controls the position.
Tyson Jr tries to stand but Cote is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cote escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tyson Jr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cote has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tyson Jr is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cote.

Tyson Jr decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cote to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tyson Jr stuffs the takedown.
Mike Tyson Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Cote.
Tyson Jr looks to land a combination but Cote avoids it well.
Tyson Jr moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Cote wants to finish this one by submission but Tyson Jr is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cote.

Cote jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Tyson Jr is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Tyson Jr and Cote has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Cote shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tyson Jr as he avoids it easily.
Tyson Jr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cote moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cote closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cote trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Cote is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tyson Jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Tyson Jr tries to lock up and control but Cote gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tyson Jr is in a horrible position here. Cote smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

A close second round but Frank Cote will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
