Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Jens Jensen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Akiyama! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jensen tries to clinch up. Akiyama throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Akiyama throws a big shot that misses. The fighters circling - Jensen throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jensen thows a body shot but no joy. Jensen fails in his attempt to clinch. A swing and a miss from Jensen. Akiyama is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jensen. Jensen moves in looking to clinch but Akiyama pushes him off. Akiyama misses with a shot to the body and Jensen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Akiyama scores with a jab to the body. Akiyama takes one to the side of the head.
Akiyama ducks under a wild hook from Jensen. Akiyama throws a big shot that misses. A big right from Jensen misses. Jensen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Jensen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Akiyama's elbow. Jensen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Jensen keeps control of Akiyama as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Akiyama is trying to break free. Akiyama prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's one minute gone in the round. Akiyama tries to circle away but Jensen has him pinned against the ropes. Akiyama is trying to force a seperation but Jensen has the dominant position. Akiyama escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jose Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jensen slips a jab from Akiyama. Jensen thows a left - swing and a miss! Jensen scores with a takedown into Akiyama's guard. Akiyama wants to stand but Jensen is controlling the position. Akiyama preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jensen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Akiyama's head. Jensen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Akiyama is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Akiyama preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jensen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akiyama swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Akiyama is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Akiyama looks gassed!
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jensen misses with a few strikes there.
Akiyama throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jensen on the side of the head. Akiyama displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jensen. Nice body punch from Akiyama. Jensen lands a jab-cross combination. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jensen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Akiyama is trying to stand back up but Jensen is controlling him

Let's see if Akiyama can do anything to dispel that myth. Jensen drops an elbow to the side of Akiyama's head. Akiyama is trying to stand.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jensen connects with a nice short shot to Akiyama's temple. Akiyama taking some punishment here, with Jensen in his half guard. Jensen slips a nice elbow through Akiyama's hands, connecting with Akiyama's forehead. Akiyama wants to get back to his feet.
Jensen working over Akiyama with some ground and pound. Akiyama looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Jensen wants to free his trapped foot but Akiyama is holding on for dear life with his legs. Akiyama is looking to escape. Jensen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Akiyama is trying to stand up here but Jensen is controlling him well. Jensen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Akiyama's head. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jensen lands a nice short elbow. Akiyama keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Jensen looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Akiyama is fighting it off but Jensen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Akiyama's guard against the ropes. Jensen lands a couple of digs. Jensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Akiyama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jensen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jens Jensen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jensen moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Akiyama throws a combination that misses so Jensen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jensen throwing strikes but missing. Jensen works over Akiyama with some ground and pound from guard. Jensen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Jensen won't allow Akiyama to get back to his feet. Jensen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Akiyama is breathing heavily. Jensen wants to pass the guard but Akiyama is keeping the position. Jensen won't allow Akiyama to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jensen clinches up with Akiyama and pushes him back against the ropes. Jensen is working for takedown but Akiyama is calmly controlling the position for now. Jensen has picked Akiyama up - he's going for a ride! Jensen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Akiyama avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jensen. Akiyama manages to escape and get back to his feet! Jensen swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Akiyama. Jensen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

He's pushed Jensen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jensen throws a right hand that Akiyama ducks under and follows up with a left that Akiyama also avoids with ease. Akiyama keeps the fight on the outside. Jensen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Akiyama is looking to escape.

Jensen winds up and cracks Akiyama with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Jensen drops an elbow to the side of Akiyama's head. Akiyama wants to get back to his feet. Akiyama is looking to control Jensen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Akiyama avoid being mounted?
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jensen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jensen chips away with some ground and pound. Jensen wants to pass the guard but Akiyama is keeping the position. Akiyama listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Akiyama with a hook. Jensen has a takedown stuffed. Jensen is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Akiyama misses with a looping right. Jose Akiyama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jensen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Akiyama paws at him with a jab and circles away. Akiyama lands with a right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jensen. Jensen misses with a takedown attempt - Akiyama sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Akiyama with a body punch. A glancing blow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A left and a right from Akiyama both land. Nice combination. Jensen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Akiyama's waist but Akiyama gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jensen off to one side. Akiyama ducks under a wild hook from Jensen. Akiyama moves out of range of the body kick. A left and a right from Akiyama both land. Nice combination. Akiyama waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Jensen. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Akiyama, as that shot connected.

Jensen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Akiyama misses the jab. Akiyama connects with a body shot. Jensen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Akiyama has time to react. Jensen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Akiyama takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jensen ducks under a wild hook from Akiyama. Jensen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Akiyama misses. Jensen is looking to clinch but Akiyama is avoiding it.
Akiyama scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Jensen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No joy there for Jensen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jensen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Akiyama scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Jensen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Akiyama circles away quickly and effectively. Jensen wants to clinch up but Akiyama keeps it at a distance. Jensen throws a big shot that misses. Akiyama throws an overhand right that lands on Jensen's shoulder, as Jensen tries to avoid the shot. Jensen is looking to clinch. Akiyama defending well as Jensen loads up on a big left hand.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jens Jensen. Well Jensen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
