Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Melenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksander Pavlosky!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavlosky tries to clinch there but Melenko circles away.
Horrible takedown by Pavlosky or perhaps it was just good defense by Melenko which made him look bad.
Pavlosky tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Melenko shoots and misses
and Pavlosky connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Melenko misses with a takedown
and Pavlosky counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Pavlosky tries to close the distance and clinch but Melenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Melenko has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Pavlosky.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Melenko gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pavlosky to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pavlosky works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pavlosky prevents Melenko from improving his position.
Pavlosky throwing shots but Melenko is blocking nicely.

Pavlosky seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Melenko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Melenko pushes Pavlosky off looking to stand but Pavlosky dives back in and keeps control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pavlosky tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

so Pavlosky counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Melenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Melenko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pavlosky on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pavlosky is looking to take a break and control but Melenko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Pavlosky connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Pavlosky drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pavlosky stands and throws Melenko's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Melenko is looking to regain half guard here but Pavlosky keeps moving and retains side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Melenko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Pavlosky ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Melenko moves away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pavlosky is trying to keep Melenko in close.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Pavlosky. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Melenko slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Melenko fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pavlosky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Melenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Melenko moves into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pavlosky won't allow Melenko to sweep him here.
Pavlosky prevents Melenko from getting back to his feet.

Oh but Pavlosky is tightening it up a little... Melenko has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Melenko reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Melenko taps out! nice BJJ there by Pavlosky!
