Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Mezza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Trudel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trudel is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cadillac Pimpin. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Mezza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Trudel! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Trudel looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mezza swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mezza has closed the distance and engaged Trudel in a clinch.
Trudel is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Mezza pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mezza scores with a decent looking hook.
It looks like Fred Trudel has been cut. Trudel takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mezza drives through and clinches with Trudel against the cage.
Trudel is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mezza gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mezza creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Mezza lands a right hand. Mezza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Trudel tries to clinch but Mezza moves out of range. Trudel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Trudel shoots in but Mezza avoids the takedown attempt easily. Steve Mezza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Trudel. Trudel throws a series of punches but Mezza avoids them all with ease. Mezza connects with a right hand. Trudel shakes it off. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mezza instigates a clinch. Mezza goes for a takedown attempt but Trudel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mezza feints and as Trudel raises his hands in defense, Mezza changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mezza trying to control but Trudel is working from the bottom. Mezza is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mezza wanted to stand there but Trudel had control of the position. Trudel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mezza wants to stand but Trudel has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mezza gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Mezza lands a right hook to the body.
Trudel looks gassed! Mezza connects with a looping right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mezza scores with a jab to the body. Mezza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mezza pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Trudel seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Mezza shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Trudel is backing up but Mezza catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Trudel covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Mezza Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Mezza!
