Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sunza Masto!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masto lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Song circles away quickly and effectively.
Song swats away the attempt to clinch by Masto.

and Masto counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Masto.

Masto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Song drops Masto with a beautiful combination! Masto stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Song is looking for the KO!


Masto is rocked!


It looks like Sunza Masto has been cut.

Masto has managed to clinch.
Masto is still on wobbly legs! Can Song finish him?

Masto manages to break the clinch.
Masto seems to have recovered his senses.
Song throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Masto counters with a two punch combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Masto uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Song.
Song wants to clinch but Masto slips to the side

and Masto counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Song tries to work over Masto's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Masto has picked Song up - he's going for a ride! Masto dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Masto wants to stand up but Song has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Masto seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Song slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Song had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Masto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Song Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Masto's back instead.
Song is throwing strikes by Masto counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Masto regains half guard.
Song with the ground and pound but Masto uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masto looks gassed!

Song postures up in Masto's guard and throws a big left but Masto blocks it.
Song throws a big right hand that misses.
Song has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Song stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Masto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Song throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Song is looking to control Masto's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Song avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Song cracks Masto with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


That has opened up Sunza Masto's cut even more.

Song drops Masto with a beautiful combination! Masto stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Song is looking for the KO!
Song tries to land a front kick but Masto steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Song is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Song clinches but Masto breaks the clinch

and Masto counters with a takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Song's face as Masto controls the position.
Masto prevents Song from escaping the position.
Song tries to control but Masto manages to take his back.
Song wants to control his opponent's hands but Masto gets his hands free.
Song tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Masto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Masto looking to control but Song is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Song is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Song tries to hold on but Masto pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Masto trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Song is working to get back to half guard.
Song throwing hammer fists to the chest of Masto. What's that going to do exactly?

Song wants to hold on but Masto pushes him away.
Song is looking to improve his position but Masto isn't that keen on the idea.
Sunza Masto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Song swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Song blocking the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Song tries to hold on but Masto postures up.
JimJim Song is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Song tries to reverse the position but Masto maintains control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sunza Masto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Song has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
