The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright swats away the attempt to clinch by Penn.
Penn lands a nice looking body shot.

Wright manages to break the clinch.
Wright is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Penn.
It looks like Jason Wright has been cut.
Penn moves into range and connects with a jab.
Penn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rampage Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Penn.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wright tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jason Wright's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Penn thuds a left hand into Wright's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rampage Penn dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
A lazy left from Penn finds it's target.
Penn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wright looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Penn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Penn lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Wright throws a jab but it's blocked by Penn.
Wright throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Penn counters with a nice body shot.
Rampage Penn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A solid leg kick lands there for Penn.
Penn throws a nice looking combination but Wright bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Penn swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Wright counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wright.

Wright is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Penn pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Wright is breathing heavily.
Penn can't break the clinch.

Penn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Penn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wright moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
