PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Obadiah Jebadiah Ordway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blaze Moores (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ordway comes to the cage accompanied by Why Can't We Be Friends?. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Obadiah Jebadiah Ordway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blaze Moores!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moores circles away from the clinch attempt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Moores.
Ordway tries to improve position but can't.
Ordway is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Moores looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Ordway tries to get to full guard but Moores has control of the leg.
Moores is looking to advance position but Ordway won't allow it.
Moores passes the guard and advances to mount!

Moores is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Moores shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ordway's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ordway is looking for a triangle but Moores pushes his legs off easily.

Moores stands up and waves to Ordway to follow him.
Moores fails with the takedown.
Ordway looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ordway tries to clinch up.

and Moores counters by clinching up.

Moores pulls guard.
Moores is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ordway tries to get to full guard but Moores has control of the leg.

Ordway is trying to stand back up but Moores is controlling him
Moores tries to pass to full mount but Ordway defends it.

Ordway is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Moores pulls his head out easily.
Ordway is breathing heavily.
Ordway tries to roll over but Moores keeps him under control.

Moores missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moores fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Moores shoots in and drives through. Ordway sprawls well.
Obadiah Jebadiah Ordway has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blaze Moores.
Ordway throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Moores's waist but Moores gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ordway off to one side.
Ordway stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Moores.

Moores closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ordway did well to prevent Moores getting side control.

Moores is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ordway is looking to improve his position.
Ordway trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Moores manages to pass to mount!
Moores unloads with some shots from mount but Ordway bucks and avoids them well.
Moores throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ordway because Moores loaded up on that one.

Moores tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ordway tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ordway sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Ordway is looking to improve his position.
Ordway makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ordway.
Ordway looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Ordway looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Moores tries to free his leg and advance position but Ordway is retaining full guard.
Moores sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ordway looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moores is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blaze Moores dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Moores looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Moores performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Ordway is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Moores has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ordway is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Moores trying to control but Ordway is having none of it.
Ordway gets back to half guard.

Ordway is trying to get back to full guard.
Moores looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Ordway is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moores's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moores's back!
Moores manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ordway's guard. Nice work there by Moores.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ordway is wriggling around but Moores manages to pass to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Moores lands a nice short elbow.
Moores prevents Ordway from standing back up.

Blaze Moores has got the better of the ground game so far.

Moores wants to take a breather but Ordway is having none of it.
Moores takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Moores has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ordway is not content to let Moores control the position.
Ordway wants to control but Moores is keeping busy.

Ordway with the active half guard here but Moores passes nicely into side control.

Moores is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ordway knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Ordway is letting Moores control him for a moment.
Ordway prevents Moores from moving into mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ordway dodges the ground and pound from Moores.

Moores tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moores has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ordway is looking to regain half guard here but Moores keeps moving and retains side control.
Ordway manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moores wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ordway keeps working.
Ordway blocking the ground and pound attempt from Moores.
Ordway trying to control from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blaze Moores showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Moores keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ordway avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck for Ordway with that takedown attempt.

Ordway gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Moores to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Moores decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Moores shoots in for a takedown but Ordway shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown by Ordway or perhaps it was just good defense by Moores which made him look bad.
Ordway looks to score with a jab to the body but Moores is just out of range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Moores counters with a body kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Moores prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Obadiah Jebadiah Ordway. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moores is pressed up against the cage. Ordway has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Moores down to the mat. Moores avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Moores gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Moores is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ordway pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The is referee keeping an eye on Moores - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Moores breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Moores throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ordway's waist but Ordway gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Moores off to one side.
Obadiah Jebadiah Ordway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ordway closes the distance looking to clinch

and Moores counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Moores stands and steps away. Ordway gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ordway rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Moores moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ordway scores with a three punch combo!

Moores throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ordway was covering up waiting for the punch and Moores finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ordway wants to stand but Moores is controlling the position.

Moores stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ordway has his takedown stuffed
and Moores counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Moores changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ordway tries to avoid it but Moores manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ordway to the ground. Ordway escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Moores stuffs the takedown.
Moores tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ordway swivels and escapes.

Moores drives through with a takedown into guard.

Moores is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Ordway wants to sweep but no luck.

Moores gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Obadiah Jebadiah Ordway is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ordway fails with the takedown.

Moores clinches with his opponent.
Moores taking a breather.
Moores has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ordway avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Ordway is working for takedown but Moores is calmly controlling the position for now.

Ordway has Moores pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Moores manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Moores has clasped his hands together around Ordway's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Moores wants to control but Ordway is keeping him busy.

Ordway avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Moores.

Blaze Moores comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Moores has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
