The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norris clinches up against the ropes.
Penn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Norris smiles and moves away.
Penn shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Norris is trying to defend but Penn finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Norris tries to kick Penn off but Penn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Penn is looking to advance position but Norris won't allow it.
Penn wants to control but Norris is keeping him busy.
Penn prevents Norris from standing back up.
Penn lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Norris wants to get back to his feet.

Penn works to advance to full mount. Norris defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Norris tries to hold on but Penn pushes him away.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Norris is just holding on here. Penn manages to take his back.
Penn is persistently looking for the submission but Norris is defending it well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Penn gets his hands free as Norris looks to control.
Penn is hanging on to Norris's back as he tries to escape.
