Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patterson dives in and grabs McCready's left leg, looking for a takedown. McCready pushes down on Patterson's head and hops out. A nice inside leg kick there by Patterson. That's going to slow McCready down. No joy there for McCready, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but McCready paws at him with a jab and circles away. McCready swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Patterson fails in his attempt to clinch. A jab from McCready misses. Patterson just misses with a punch to the body.
Patterson tries to clinch but McCready moves out of range. McCready lands a really nice looking cross but Patterson seems unphased.

Patterson fails with a takedown attempt. Patterson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McCready was covering up waiting for the punch and Patterson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Patterson sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Patterson got a little sloppy there for a moment and McCready has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Patterson has managed to get both his arms back between McCready's legs - danger averted.

McCready can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Patterson controls the pace. Patterson wants to control from the top but McCready keeps moving. Patterson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Patterson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McCready is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Patterson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. McCready regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson wants to take a breather but McCready is having none of it. McCready is in trouble now - Patterson has advanced to mount! Patterson misses with a head shot. Patterson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Patterson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for McCready because Patterson loaded up on that one. McCready gets back to half guard. McCready wants to control but Patterson is keeping busy.
Patterson moves into full mount! McCready won't be happy about that! McCready tries to reverse the position but Patterson maintains control. Patterson is working for a guillotine from mount but McCready frees his head quite easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson is looking to work his way around to McCready's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. McCready tries to get back to half guard but can't. McCready is squirming around, avoiding Patterson's attempts to control the action. Patterson has control of McCready's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McCready regains control of the situation pretty easily.
McCready is looking to improve his position but Patterson isn't that keen on the idea. Patterson thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. McCready is squirming around, avoiding Patterson's attempts to control the action. Patterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. McCready is wriggling around trying to escape.
Patterson wants to take McCready's back but he can't do it this time. McCready is trying desperately to improve position. Patterson looking to control but McCready is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Patterson controlling his opponent. McCready working to try and regain half guard.
Patterson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McCready manages to avoid the submission attempt. Patterson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Patterson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abe Patterson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Patterson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McCready cracks Patterson with a right hand to the side of the head. McCready scores with a hook to the body. Patterson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Patterson moves forwards but McCready connects with a nice, crisp jab. Patterson shoots in but no luck this time. Patterson fails with a takedown attempt. Patterson takes one to the chin there. McCready looks to land a combination but Patterson avoids it well. McCready throws a series of strikes that have Patterson backpedaling.
It looks like Abe Patterson has been cut. Patterson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abe Patterson. That's going to take a lot out of him. McCready throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Patterson. McCready wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for McCready. McCready closes the distance and clinches up with Patterson, looking for a takedown. McCready pushes Patterson against the ropes but Patterson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Patterson shoots in for a takedown but McCready shows good takedown defense. McCready takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Nice sprawl there from McCready as Patterson shoots in. No luck with that takedown attempt from McCready. Patterson fails with the takedown and McCready counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Patterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Patterson moves forwards but McCready connects with a nice, crisp jab. McCready scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Patterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McCready tries to avoid it but Patterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McCready to the ground. McCready escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. McCready lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Patterson at a distance.
Patterson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. McCready stalks Patterson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Patterson's face. Patterson staggers backwards, shaken. Patterson takes one on the button. Patterson misses with a takedown and McCready counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Patterson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McCready counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Michael McCready seems to be getting the better of the standup. McCready misses with a few strikes there.
McCready throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Patterson. Patterson wants to clinch up but McCready keeps it at a distance. Patterson shoots and misses and McCready counters with a nice double leg into guard. McCready trying to control but Patterson is working from the bottom. McCready is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. McCready drops back looking for a leg! Patterson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Patterson manages to kick McCready off! McCready jumps back into Patterson's guard. Patterson wants to stand up but McCready is controlling him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson keeping full guard, as McCready tries to pass. Patterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Patterson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCready gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Patterson keeping full guard, as McCready tries to pass. Patterson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! McCready rolls with it to try and escape but Patterson cranks on the arm and McCready is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
