Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Petey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seamus Thurston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Petey ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Seamus Thurston! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thurston tries to close the distance and clinch up but Petey swats him away and circles back towards the center. Thurston fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Petey avoids it really well and circles away. A slow jab from Petey misses its intended target. Thurston fails with a takedown attempt. Petey stuffs the takedown attempt from Thurston. Thurston gets slowly back to his feet. Peter Petey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seamus Thurston. Thurston misses with a takedown attempt - Petey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Thurston shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Petey but Petey pushes him off and we're back to square one. Petey lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Thurston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Petey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thurston is one step ahead there. Thurston tries to free his leg and advance position but Petey is retaining full guard. Thurston preventing the sweep. Petey is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Thurston drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petey manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thurston has Petey in his guard. Petey throwing strikes from guard but Thurston blocks nicely. Thurston is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Thurston looks gassed! Thurston looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Petey advances position into side control! Petey in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Petey tries to advance to mount but Thurston denies him. Thurston is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Petey has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Petey there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Petey wants to finish this one by submission but Thurston is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Petey . Petey looking to secure an arm triangle but Thurston defends it well. Petey has hold of Thurston's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thurston manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Thurston is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Petey looking to ground and pound but Thurston is blocking nicely. Petey looking for a guillotine from mount but Thurston is having none of it. Thurston regains half guard. Thurston is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Thurston looking for submissions off his back. Petey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Petey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thurston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Petey is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Thurston wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petey tries to pass to full mount but Thurston defends it. Thurston tries to roll over but Petey keeps him under control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Thurston checks a leg kick nicely. Petey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thurston fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Thurston avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Thurston closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thurston lands in his opponent's guard. Petey throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Thurston drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thurston jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Petey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Thurston defends well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter Petey dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Petey misses with a straight left. Petey defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Thurston. Petey looks to land a combination but Thurston avoids it well. Thurston fails to land the takedown. Petey throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Thurston throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Petey 's waist but Petey gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thurston off to one side. Peter Petey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seamus Thurston. Petey thuds his right hand into Thurston's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Petey misses with a double jab.
Petey looks to land a combination but Thurston avoids it well. Petey lands a body shot.
Petey gets caught flat footed, as Thurston shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Thurston is breathing heavily. Petey looking to control.

That was a very nice submission by Petey .
