5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Knife! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marak scores a takedown into full mount! Marak looking to control but Knife is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Knife tries to lock up and control but Marak gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Marak looking to control but Knife is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Marak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marak seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Knife is holding on tight.

Marak lands with some strikes. Knife sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Knife trying to hold on to Marak's head to control him but Marak postures up.
Knife tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Marak lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Knife wants to improve his position but Marak is controlling well.
Marak is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Marak is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knife regains full guard. Nicely done. Knife is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Knife is trying to keep Marak in close.
Marak tries to free his leg and advance position but Knife is retaining full guard. Marak is breathing heavily. Knife not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Knife has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Marak! Knife landing shots from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Knife with the ground and pound from mount. Knife postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Marak looks a forlorn figure.
Knife is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Marak is surviving well by controlling Knife's body position as best he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Knife dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Knife gets the takedown into side control. Knife has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Knife lands a decent elbow from side control. Marak is looking to reverse the position. Knife working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Knife is looking to take a break and control but Marak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Marak can't do much from the bottom here.
