Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Flipper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Ruoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruoff is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Virtual Insanity. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Flipper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Ruoff! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flipper shoots in and drives through. Ruoff sprawls well. Ruoff has his takedown stuffed and Flipper counters by moving into the clinch. Flipper goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ruoff prevents it.
Ruoff tries to pull guard but Flipper holds him up against the cage and eventually Ruoff drops back down to his feet.
Ruoff changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Flipper fights it off and pushes away nicely.
James Flipper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Ruoff. Ruoff rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Flipper moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ruoff is defended easily by Flipper. Flipper clinches. Knees in the clinch landing for Flipper.
Ruoff should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Flipper has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ruoff is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Flipper breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Flipper scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ruoff doesn't seem bothered though. Flipper has managed to clinch.
Ruoff is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Flipper pulls him back up using the underhooks. Ruoff looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Flipper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Flipper successfully pulls guard.

Ruoff pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Flipper is keeping the position for now. Ruoff would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Flipper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruoff doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ruoff manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Flipper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Flipper shoots in but Ruoff avoids the takedown attempt easily. Flipper with a lazy takedown attempt and Ruoff decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Flipper's guard. Flipper looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ruoff drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ruoff jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ruoff stopping the sweep attempt from Flipper. Flipper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Flipper looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Flipper can't keep his opponent in guard - Ruoff advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Flipper is controlling Ruoff's trapped leg to prevent Ruoff from advancing to side control. Ruoff trying to control the action but Flipper is working from the bottom. Ruoff is looking for a kimura but Flipper is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ruoff to get the leverage. Flipper desperately trying to maintain half guard. Flipper wants to improve his position but Ruoff is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Flipper is working hard here to advance position. Ruoff seems to be working for a kimura but Flipper defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Flipper moves into range and clinches up with Ruoff. Ruoff has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Flipper is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Flipper's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Flipper scores with a takedown into Ruoff's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Flipper dominated that round. That's time! Flipper's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Flipper tries for a takedown but Ruoff sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ruoff misses with a jab to the body
and Flipper counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Flipper is trying to control the action in half guard but Ruoff is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Flipper is looking to advance position but Ruoff won't allow it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Flipper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ruoff is just riding it out for now. Flipper eventually gives up the hold. Flipper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruoff on the ground. Ruoff regains full guard. Nicely done. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruoff is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Flipper is aware though and is defending well. Ruoff working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Flipper. Ruoff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Flipper is one step ahead there. Flipper looking to pass the guard. Flipper controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Flipper would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruoff controls Flipper momentarily but Flipper frees himself. Ruoff keeping moving, preventing Flipper from controlling successfully.

Flipper gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ruoff counters with a nice double leg into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruoff trying to control the position from guard on top but Flipper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Flipper wants to stand up but Ruoff is controlling him. Ruoff drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ruoff jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Flipper lands a nice looking body shot.
Flipper fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Flipper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Flipper is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ruoff sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Ruoff misses with a takedown attempt and Flipper counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Flipper. Flipper has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Ruoff to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Flipper is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Ruoff pulls down on the head and he's put Flipper to sleep! This one is all over!
