Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Rhodes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jones Walker! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rhodes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nice takedown defense from Walker. No joy for Rhodes on that attempt. Rhodes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rhodes stops Walker from getting back to his feet.
Rhodes is trying to control. Walker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rhodes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Walker is staying active underneath Rhodes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker is in trouble now - Rhodes has advanced to mount! Rhodes is working for a guillotine from mount but Walker frees his head quite easily.
Walker squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Rhodes controlling from mount. Walker is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rhodes wants to control the pace but Walker is squirming around nicely. Rhodes jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Walker manages to avoid the submission attempt. Walker tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Walker is trying to stand. Walker looks gassed! Rhodes moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Walker has worked his arm free - good work by Walker!
Walker wants to get back to his feet but Rhodes is dominant here and he's now got Walker's back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walker is trying to stand back up. Rhodes is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Walker defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Walker has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Walker won't enjoy being in this position. Rhodes looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Walker is tapping - it's over boys! Rhodes picks up the submission victory!
