Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Samoa Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samoa Joe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Van Dam! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe fails with the takedown. Samoa Joe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Joe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Joe tries to clinch up. Joe throws a low kick but Van Dam avoids it. Joe moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Van Dam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Joe working for a triangle but Van Dam defends it easily.
Van Dam drops back looking for a leg! Joe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Joe manages to kick Van Dam off! Van Dam jumps back into Joe's guard. Van Dam drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Van Dam jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Joe keeping full guard, as Van Dam tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Van Dam defends well. Joe wants to stand up but Van Dam is controlling him. Van Dam looking to pass the guard. Van Dam won't allow Joe to sweep him here. Van Dam advances position into side control! Van Dam is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Joe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on Joe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Joe prevents Van Dam from improving position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Joe tries to bench press Van Dam off him but Van Dam keeps the position. Joe manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Van Dam looking for submissions off his back. Van Dam looks gassed! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Joe connects with a nice short shot to Van Dam's temple. Joe scoring with strikes to the body and head. Van Dam wants to get back to full guard. Joe not landing any meaningful shots this time. Van Dam is looking to improve his position.
Joe in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Van Dam tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Joe!
